Abstract

Dielectric properties of organo-modified hectorite clay by different modifier with varying chain length have been investigated. Organomodification process has been established by the x-ray diffraction pattern. Interlayer water molecule and interlayer gallery cations affect the conductivity of hectorite clay. NH4CL modified and unmodified clay shows a similar impedance spectra pattern at a higher temperature. Whereas for dodecyl amine (DDA) modified clay impedance spectra indicates a dependence of ion conduction upon its tail constituents.
