Abstract

Planar-flow-melt-spinning process (PFMS) produces amorphous ribbons for lamina of transformer core. However, the amorphous structure depend process parameters. The present work investigates the effect of offset of the crucible center to the wheel center, on puddle-formation and ribbon-thickness. Ribbon thickness is observed to increase to 13% and 10% respectively for an offset of 4 mm to wheel center in the clock-wise direction and in the anti-clockwise direction of rotation of the wheel. The preferable position of the crucible is its center being collinear with wheel center and the limiting offset of not>4 mm to the left of wheel center.
