Abstract

A Zr based alloy has been developed with a β phase (BCC) dominated microstructure by adding Nb and Mo as alloying elements. Effect of Nb has been highlighted throughout the study due to its effectiveness on volume fraction of β-Zr and Mo2Zr as well as on transformation temperature. It has been found that increment of Nb concentration enhances the β-phase volume fraction through the reduction of α→β transformation temperature. Detail TEM analyses elucidates the above explanation.
