Abstract

Objective To study the influence of music therapy on pain degree and anxiety of patients undergoing ultra-filtrated and concentrated ascites reinfusion. Methods 48 patients undergoing ultra-filtrated and concentrated ascites reinfusion were divided into two groups randomly (27 for treatment group and 21for control group). Music therapy was undertaken on treatment group while the control group was cared in the usual way. All the patients were test by Face Rating Scale of pain and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) ; contrast the result of the treatment group and the control group. Results The scores of anxiety were decreased significantly in treatment group and control groups [(47.93 ± 7.81) vs (61.48 ± 2.29), t = 8. 554, P < 0.01], compared with the norm (29.78 + 10.07) scores, differences were statistically significantly (P < 0.01). The pain degree was decreased significantly in treatment group compared and control group [(1.52 ± 0.51) vs (3.00 ± 0.78)scores,t = 7.98, P < 0.01]. Conclusions Music therapy can relieve the pain degree and anxiety of patients undergoing ultra-filtrated and concentrated ascites reinfusion.
