Abstract

Fatigue pitting is the main failure form of automatic transmission gear at present. In this paper, the contact stress of the tooth surface under different coefficients of friction is calculated by the finite element method. The contact fatigue test and transmission performance were carried out on the 20MnCrS5 helical gears after carburizing with different thicknesses of manganese phosphate conversion coating by a special gear test bench. And the influence of the solid lubricating coating on gear contact fatigue performance was deeply discussed. The results show that the contact fatigue life of the gear treated by manganese phosphate conversion coating is improved by more than 100 %, and the manganese phosphate coated gear with a thickness of 12 µm has a higher fatigue life.
