Effect of magnetic order on the fluorescence dynamics of LnALO 3 (Ln 3+ = Gd 3+ and Tb 3+)

Abstract

The fluorescence dynamics of antiferromagnets GdALO 3 and TbAlO below the ordering temperature T N, using a selective pulsed laser excitation. Drastic changes of the decay time scale as well as the profile are measured; these dynamical properties are understood in terms of short range ion-ion interactions.
