Abstract

We have tested the effect of magnetic field strength of beam extraction side on the beam intensity of highly charged Xe ions produced from liquid-He-free superconducting electron cyclotron resonance ion source. We observed that the beam intensities of highly charged Xe ions are strongly dependent on the magnetic field strength. The beam intensities of highly charged Xe ions, such as 32+ and 33+, increase with increasing magnetic field strength from 1 to 1.24 T. At 1.24 T, we successfully obtained beam intensities of 6 and 4 eµA for Xe32 and 33+ ions, respectively.
