Abstract

The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been widely used for the decision-making method. By adapting AHP in laser welding, we think that we can analyze and digitalize expert’s skills. In this presentation, we investigate the effect of laser parameters on welding defects using AHP in case of getting proper laser welding bead with relatively good tensile strength as well as a base material.By comparing expert’s skill of a factory engineer and a researcher (government consultant), both experts considered that the most undesirable welding defect is “Crack”, independent of the expert’s job experience and environments. In addition, when suppressing welding defects, factory engineer thought that “Welding speed” is the priority adjusting parameter. On the other hand, expert worked at Institute selected “Pulse frequency” as the primary adjusting parameters. These results reflect well expert’s job experience and environments. Thus, AHP is an effective method to analyze laser welding expert’s skills. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been widely used for the decision-making method.
