Abstract
Continuous and proper oil lubrication between the friction pair can reduce wear and increase the service life of mechanical components. The synergistic effects of oil wettability and spreadability on lubrication durability and tribological properties were investigated. The results indicate that the capillary action of textured structures can promote the oil spreadability and reduce the relaxation time of the contact angle, and the final contact angle will be affected by the laser-induced oxidation and hydroxylation. However, the excessive absorption behavior of textures limits the oil wettability and spreadability. In addition, capillary action and hydroxylation formed a textured surface with excellent oil spreadability and a relatively high contact angle. This is a critical factor in maintaining surface lubrication and improving tribological properties.
