Abstract
The influence of L-tryptophan on the pool of CNS-active compounds under the conditions of chronic alcohol intoxication has been studied. The chronic administration of alcohol leads to a dysbalance in the pool of CNS-active compounds in rat brain. The most significant changes are observed in characteristics of the central dopaminergic and serotoninergic systems. The intragastric introduction of L-tryptophan in a dose of 100 mg/kg under the conditions of chronic alcohol intoxication alleviated the alcohol-induced disturbances in the functioning of the serotoninergic system. Normalization of the characteristics of the dopaminergic system was less pronounced.
