Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of Kang’ai injection combined with PC chemotherapy on disease control rate and serum carbohydrate antigen 125(CA 125)and cytokeratin 19 fragment(CYFRA 21-1)level changes in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). Methods A retrospective study was performed on 94 cases of patients with advanced NSCLC who were admitted from April 2014 to April 2017.Patients were randomly divided into the chemotherapy group and combined treatment group, with 47 cases in each group.Patients in the chemotherapy group were treated with PC chemotherapy, the others in the combined treatment group were given Kang'ai injection combined with PC chemotherapy. Two groups were treated for 3 cycles(3 weeks for a cycle). The clinical effects and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. The changes of serum CA 125, CYFRA 21-1 levels and quality of life(SF-36)scores were compared between the two groups before treatment and after 3 cycles of treatment. Results After 3 cycles of treatment, the total effective rate of the combined treatment group was 51.1%(24/47); compared with the chemotherapy group 40.4%(19/47), the difference was not statistically insignificant(P>0.05). The rate of disease control in the combined treatment group was 76.6%(36/47), higher than that of the combined treatment group 55.3%(26/47), the differencewas statistically significant(P 0.05). After treatment for 3 cycles, the serum levels of CA 125 and CYFRA 21-1 in the combined treatment group were reduced compared with those in the chemotherapy group(P<0.05). After treatment for 3 cycles, the SF-36 score of the combined treatment group was higher than that of the chemotherapy group, the differencewas statistically significant(P<0.05). Compared with the chemotherapy group, the incidence of adverse reactions such as myelosuppression, granulocyte reduction, liver and kidney function impairment, thrombocytopenia and gastrointestinal reaction were lower in the combined treatment group, the differencewas statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The effect of Kang’ai injection combined with PC chemotherapy on patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer was effective. It can significantly improve the disease control rate, reduce levels of serum CA 125 and CYFRA 21-1, reduce the incidence of adverse reactions, and improve the quality of life.
