Abstract
In order to investigate the effect of argon ion bombardment on the properties of amorphous silicon, films were deposited by r.f. sputtering under various r.f. powers. The argon ion bombardment reduces the hydrogen content in the films and favours SiH 2 bond formation. These results were supported by IR spectroscopy, optical and electrical measurements.
