Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of ateplase in the treatment of elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction, and to evaluate its effect on patients’ neurological function and prognosis. Methods Fifty-eight patients with acute ischemic stroke who were treated in Xinzhou People’sHospital from January 2017 to October 2018 were selected and randomly divided into control group and study group, with 29 cases in each group. Patients in control group received routine treatment, and patients in study group received intravenous treatment with alteplase. The clinical efficacy, secondary bleeding and poor prognosis of two groups were observed. Cerebral infarction area was assessed before and after treatment. Neurological improvement was assessed by National Institutes of health stroke scale (NIHSS) score, and activity of daily living was assessed by Barthel index (BI). Results The total effective rate of study group was 79.31%, which was higher than that of control group (62.07%), and the difference was statistically significant (P 0.05). However, the incidence of adverse prognosis in study group (6.90%) was significantly lower than that in control group (24.14%), P<0.05. Conclusions Intravenous thrombolysis with arteplase in the treatment of elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction has a significant clinical effect. It can significantly reduce the area of cerebral infarction and improve neurological function, with good prognosis and high safety. Key words: Alteplase; Acute cerebral infarction; Intravenous thrombolysis; Elderly; Clinical efficacy; Prognosis
