Abstract

The maximum power output of an internally and externally irreversible solar heat engine has been determined when the total heat transfer area is constrained. The results show that to reduce the effect of the internal irreversibility of the engine both the stagnation temperature of the collector and the size of the cold end heat exchanger may be increased.
