Abstract

The rapid depletion of fossil fuel and rising pollution effects has buoyed up the need to focus on vitalizing internal combustion engines. The present work focuses on experimental investigation of the effect of injection timing on the performance and emission characteristics on CNG- diesel dual fuel engine. The experiments conducted at different loading conditions has sought to establish the influence of CNG flow rates and Injection Timings (IT) on Brake thermal efficiency (BTE) and emissions like NOx, Opacity, unburnt hydrocarbon (UBHC). Advancing IT showed remarkable decrease of NOx and Smoke whereas UBHC displayed an increase. Though BTE initially increased with advancing IT and later dropped.
