Abstract

In this paper the effect of injection and elasticity of the liquid on the flow pattern of a second order fluid in the inlet region of a porous channel has been studied. The pressure gradient has been calculated by an energy integral applied over the entire flow field (including the inviscid flow region) rather than by simply applying Euler's equation of inviscid motion to the flow outside the boundary layer. The effects of suction and non-Newtonian parameter on the growth of boundary layer thickness in the inlet region, core velocity and pressure distribution in the inlet region have been studied.
