Abstract

A two percent (2%) solution of adrenaline administered topically twice daily lowered ocular tension and this hypotension persisted during the entire three week period of treatment. Indomethacin, 0·25% and 0·125% inhibited the ocular hypotensive action of adrenaline but did not affect intraocular pressure in normal eyes. It is suggested that the antagonism of the ocular hypotensive action of adrenaline in rabbits by indomethacin may be due to either inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis or Ca ++ binding in ocular tissues.
