Abstract

Surface modification of the heat-resistant 12Cr1MoV steel with the use of high-intensity Zr ion beam has been conducted. It has been revealed that the treatment gives rise to the formation of a softened modified surface layer with a thickness of 130–200 µm. The effect of Zr ion beam irradiation on impact toughness at ambient, increased and high temperatures of 20 °C, 375 °C and 600 °C is studied, and the ”load vs. time” loading diagrams are analyzed. The analysis and discussion of the obtained results have been performed.
