Abstract

Abstract Bi(2223) is reported to be a high-T phase with a T of 110K. Pb addition has been reported to stabilize the 2223 phase, we have made a systematic investigation on the non-stoichiometric starting composition of 2223 with nominal compositions Bi1.7Pb0.3InxSr2Ca1.8Cu3Oy and Bi1.7Pb0.3AxSr2Ca2Cu3Oy (A=Ag and Sn). The samples have been subjected to different heat treatments and characterized by DC electrical resistance, AC magnetic susceptibility and X-ray diffraction measurements. Detailed analyses of the measurements performed are presented.
