Abstract

The results of a quantitative assessment of the content of δ-ferrite in martensitic-ferritic steel and its effect on properties under various heat treatment regimes are presented. It was found that with a high content of δ-ferrite, mechanical properties (tensile strength, toughness and hardness) significantly decrease after heat treatment (quenching + tempering). With a low content of δ-ferrite, it increases the hardness of steel. The content of δ-ferrite in 14Kh17N2 steel can be regulated by controlling the chromium and nickel content in the steel composition, as well as the quenching temperature.
