Abstract

The high-temperature short-time batch procedure which simulates the commercial pasteurization process, completely inactivated bovine leukosis virus (BLV)-infected lymphocytes in milk. Heating BLV-infected lymphocytes at 50°C for 70 sec completely destroyed RLV infectivity. Destruction of BLV infectivity coincided with the loss of lymphocyte viability as indicated by the lack of response to Concanavalin A stimulation.
