Abstract
The effects of grain size on the work hardening behaviour and strain rate sensitivity of electrolytic nickel and nickel alloy Inconel 200 have been investigated. The strain rate sensitivity of nickel is essentially independent of grain size, whereas that of Inconel 200 increases with increasing grain size. The results are discussed in terms of the effect of grain size on the dislocation mean free path and the strain ageing effects caused by the carbon present in Inconel 200.
