Abstract

This paper analyzes the influence of geopolymer materials cushion synthesized from clay soil sources in the Mekong Delta and fly ash of Vinh Tan thermal power plant on settlement and horizontal displacement of embankment on soft soil. Based on the results of field and laboratory experiments on geopolymer materials synthesized from clay mud and fly ash combined with the finite element method, the influence of geopolymer cushion on settlement and horizontal displacement of embankment on soft soil was investigated. Research results show that, when using a geopolymer cushion with a thickness of 1m to 3m to improve the soft soil, the settlement at the center of the embankment is reduced from 52% to 326% compared to the case without the geopolymer cushion. Based on research results, evaluate the potential application of this geopolymer material as a cushion to improvement on soft soil in road construction. By taking advantage of the local weak clay source and using a large amount of fly ash waste, it will contribute to reducing environmental pollution, ensuring the sustainable development of transport infrastructure works.
