Abstract

In this work, the effect of gaseous plasma on microorganisms located on the plain steel plates was studied with the purpose of sterilization of the surface. The effect of plasma combines the action of three phenomena on microorganisms: active ions, electric field and ultraviolet irradiation. The surface treatment was carried out using a plasma spraying unit operating on a mixture of a combustible gas, oxygen and air with the following variable parameters: air pressure 1-6 atm., combustible gas pressure (input) 0.8-3 atm., oxygen pressure (input) 1-4 atm., distance 200-300 mm, exposure time 0.5-5 min.
