Abstract
Low pressure casting (LPC) method is widely used in high quality casting production. Control of the molten metal forming process to improve the quality of casting has an important role in improving the intrinsic quality of the casting. In this paper, a novel fuzzy proportional–integral–differential (PID) algorithm was transplanted into LPC, and the effect of the inlet parameters of this fuzzy PID algorithm on the precision control of the LPC equipment at different working volumes was studied. Control accuracy was improved by over 20%. By adjusting the error and the error rates, the fuzzy and PID controls together provide good pressurisation control. The results show that this kind of pressure control method is applicable to various LPC systems, is reproducible and remains stable in the face of furnace leakage and pressure source fluctuation.
