Abstract

In this work the effect of FDM parameters, viz., layer thickness, print temperature, and infill pattern on tensile strength of Carbon fibre PLA is studied. The printing process is done by considering three levels for each parameter and a full factorial design of experiments (33) are conducted. The tensile test data is analyzed by conducting ANOVA and results indicate that the interactions between layer thickness-infill pattern, and infill pattern-extrusion temperature have significant effect on tensile strength. The highest tensile strength of 26.59 MPa is obtained for a layer thickness of 0.1 mm, extrusion temperature of 225 °C and cubic infill pattern.
