Abstract

The effects of solute atoms, 0.005∼0.2 at. %, on the formation of dislocation loops in quenched dilute aluminium alloys have been studied by the two-step aging technique. It has been made clear that the formation of loops is promoted by a small amount of solute atoms, and that this promotive effect depends on the kind of solute atoms and is in the order, Ge>In>Si>Cu>Sb>Bi>Ni≥Mg≥Zn≥Ag>Au>Sn.
