Abstract

In this investigation, there was no appreciable effect on LDL particle diameter and there was no greater or lesser effect in patients classified at baseline as LDL pattern A, B, or I. This investigation indicates that fluvastatin, a 3-Hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitor, can significantly reduce LDL cholesterol, but has no effect on LDL particle diameter and no differential effect on patients characterized by differences in LDL subclass pattern. This contributes additional information on the lack of a differential effect of this statin medication in patients classified at baseline as LDL pattern A, B, or I.
