Abstract

This work investigates the transmission quality of ultra-wideband (UWB) wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) system after considering the effect of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS). Gaussian noise (GN) model is presented with each band has its own parameters values to obtain high accuracy results. The proposed analysis is based on using Short (S) + Conventional (C) + Long (L) band of 18 THz bandwidth which support 360 WDM channels with uniform lunch channel power and 50 GHz spacing. The results show that reducing the channel lunch power from -2 to -4 dBm reduces power transfer due to SRS by about 4.5 dB. Further, the fiber nonlinear effect can be reduced by about 3.2 dB/W 2 using QPSK modulation format.
