Abstract
An investigation has been carried out of polymerization of acrylonitrile (AN) and of copolymerization of AN with methyl acrylate (MA) and itaconic acid (IA), initiated by AZBN, in a solution of sodium thiocyanate in the presence of ferric chloride. A mechanism of the inhibiting effect of ferric chloride is proposed and the stoichiometric constants and the rate constants of the inhibition reaction have been calculated.
