Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of external application with vitamin B1 injection combined with dexamethasone injection in the treatment of postpartum perineal swelling. Methods 92 patients who underwent vaginal delivery and had postpartum perineal swelling in department of obstetrics of our hospital were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. The patients in the control group received wet dressing with 50% MgSO4, while the patients in the experimental group received external application with vitamin B1 injection combined with dexamethasone injection. Compared the time of pain relief, swelling subsided time, pain degree and swelling degree before the treatment and at different time points after the treatment, the overall curative effect, and adverse reactions of the two groups. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the time of pain relief between the two groups (P>0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in VAS score and the score of swelling degree between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05); VAS score and the score of swelling degree in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group at 1 d and 2 d after the treatment (P 0.05). Conclusion External application with vitamin B1 injection combined with dexamethasone injection in the treatment of maternal perineal swelling is effective and reliable, with less adverse reactions and higher safety. Key words: Vitamin B1 injection; Dexamethasone injection; Postpartum perineal swelling
