Abstract

The microstructure uniformity of high purity aluminum extruded by large equal channel angular pressing die at room temperature was studied by metallurgical microscope, and the hardness and tensile testing of samples were carried out. The results show that both dynamic recrystallization and grain refinement exist in the extrusion process, and the grains are most uniform at the eighth pass. The tensile strength and hardness reached the maximum in the first pass, 33.21HV and 83.15MPa, respectively. The elongation is the best in the eighth pass, which is 44.39%. The eighth extrusion sample has good thermal stability, and the minimum average grain size can reach 84um after 2h heat treatment at 200°C.
