Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during the spring season (Kharif) of 2008. The treatments of the study consisted of five transplanting dates (March 10, March 25, April 10, April 25 and May 10) in a simple randomised block design with harvesting at complete flowering stage. The results revealed that to get maximum herb and oil yield, sweet basil should be transplanted from fist week of April to first week of May. April 10 was found most profitable with highest nutrient content and uptake. Early transplanting (10–25 March) was not so fruitful.
