Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of different methods of hydroxyapatite (HA)orbit implants implantation. Methods 54 cases were divided into 2 groups according to different implantation method of HA, without or with autosclera covering. The curative effect and complications were observed. The follow-up was 3 - 18 months. Results The hydroxyapatites were fixed to orbit well with good movement. The main complication was hydroxyapatites exposure. No significant differences were found between the two methods on curative effect and exposure of HA (x2=0.041, P>0.05). Conclusion The plastic surgery of hydroxyapatite implants was satisfactory. The incidence of complaication was not related to different hydroxyapatite implantation methods. Key words: hydroxyapatite orbital implant;  implantation;  complication
