Abstract

ABSTRACT A simple induction motor model, which considers the current displacement in the rectangular rotor bars, is introduced. The deduced differential equations are given using space vector representation and the numerical method of solution is described briefly. A high power railway propulsion system (Intercity Express ICE drive) was simulated twice, once with and once without current displacement in the motor model. The maximum current, current harmonics, torque pulsation and harmonic losses were calculated. The obtained results show that current displacement consideration in the motor model can be significant in some cases.
