Abstract
This paper investigates the microstructure, hardness, and corrosion behavior of AlCrxFeNi2Cu1.6 (x = 0.5, 1.5, 2.5) high entropy alloys (HEAs). There are two simple phases, face-centered cubic (FCC) and body-centered cubic (BCC) phases, in all high entropy alloys. The result shows that the Icorr decreases from 3.76 to 1.25 μA cm−2, and the breakdown potential (Eb) increases from −0.155 to −0.021 V with the addition of chromium. Microstructure of the corroded surface indicates that the number of the pits decreases as the increase of chromium content. Cr element has the capacity to enhance the corrosion resistance of the alloys.
