Abstract

Background: Cases of diabetes are on the rise in almost every population and without proper management and control the burden of the disease will continue to rise globally. Vitamins and minerals play significant roles in the management of diabetes and studies have shown the hypoglycemic effect of quail's egg. Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of Coturnix japonica (Quail) egg on serum glucose and some serum B-vitamins and mineral elements in alloxan induced diabetic rats. Methods: Rats were rendered diabetic by intravenous injection of alloxan (80mg/kg body weight).
