Abstract

Specimens made of two types of intermediary soft reline materials were placed in solutions of agents which might commonly come in contact with patients' dentures. Certain of these agents, in particular some soaking-type denture cleansers, caused damaging changes to occur within the soft materials. Limited clinical observations were made to confirm the results of the laboratory report, and the findings supported the laboratory observations. Therefore, patients whose dentures have received a temporary soft relining material should be advised in the method of cleansing their dentures to gain a longer-lasting usefulness from the reline material.
