Abstract

Objective To compare the anesthesia effect of combined spinal-epidural anesthesia and general anesthesia for elderly patients with femoral neck fracture operation. Methods 68 elderly patients with femoral neck fracture, received general anesthesia and combined spinal-epidural anesthesia respectively. The hypoxia, bradycardia, hypotension, hypertension and hemorrhage during anesthesia were observed and recorded, and satisfaction degree of the patients was also observed. In addition, postoperative complications and analgesic effects were recorded. Results Compared with the general anesthesia group, the combined spinal-epidural anesthesia group had lower incidence rate of hypertension, higher incidence rate of hypotension, and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05).The amount of bleeding, hypoxia, slow heartbeat, patients' satisfaction had no significant differences between the two groups.Compared with general anesthesia group, postoperative analgesia and control of complications in combined spinal-epidural anesthesia group were better. Conclusion For the elderly femoral neck fracture operation patients, both general anesthesia and combined spinal-epidural anesthesia can achieve better anesthesia and analgesia effects, but due to postoperative complications of the general anesthesia are common in elderly patients, therefore selection of combined spinal-epidural anesthesia can control the complications, which is more effective.
