Abstract

1. Cold plastic deformation (10–15% elongation) considerably increases the strength of the KhN35VTYu alloy. 2. Cold plastic deformation increases the strength at temperatures up to 700°C, but decreases it at 750°C. 3. Cold plastic deformation decreases the time before rupture of the KhN35VTYu alloy at 550 and 700°C and increases its sensitivity to stress concentrators. At 750°C cold deformation has no effect on the time before rupture. 4. The decrease of the time before rupture at 550–700°C and the increase of the sensitivity to stress concentrators result from irregular selective precipitation of particles of the strengthening phase along the slip lines and the large particles precipitated along the grain boundaries and twinning lines.
