Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of cluster nursing measures on the efficacy and quality of life of elderly patients with functional constipation. Methods 120 patients with functional constipation treated at our hospital from January to October, 2016 were randomly divided into an observation group (n=60) and a control group (n=60). The control group was given routine nursing care; and in addition, the observation group received cluster nursing intervention. The symptom score and quality of life of the two groups were compared before and after the intervention. Results The scores of bowel movement, stool, defecation, anal plug and defecation were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (all P<0.05). The scores of psychological function, physical function, physical pain, emotional function, social function, mental health, vitality, and general health were higher in the observation group than in the control group (all P <0.05).
