Abstract

Global diabetes cases continue to increase, in Indonesia, there were 19.5 million people with diabetes in 2019. Patients with diabetes typically use anti-diabetic medications. However, there are still adverse effects from anti-diabetic medications that lead to different issues. As a result, new treatments using natural plant compounds—among which is the Brassica rapa L. plant—are required. This research aims to determine the effect of Brassica rapa L. extract on blood glucose levels in mice induced by alloxan. The method used was Pretest-Posttest with Control Group. This research used 25 mice which were divided into 5 groups, namely negative control, positive control, treatment doses of 50%, 70% and 100%. Blood sugar levels were checked using a glucometer on days 3, 6 and 9. The data obtained was processed using SPSS with non-parametric tests, namely Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney. The results of the study showed that there was an effect in reducing blood sugar levels, but no significant dose was found to reduce blood sugar levels. Based on this study it was concluded that Brassica rapa L. extract can be used to reduce blood glucose levels.
