Abstract

Attachment of trimethylchlorosilane to the surface of Si improved its stability in aqueous solutions in the case of p-type conductivity. Adsorption of polymers such as poly(methyl-methacrylate) and poly(ethyleneterephthalate) was useful for improving the stability of n-type Si. Photoelectrochemical properties of polymer-coated electrodes seem to be governed by the thickness of adsorbed polymers and are unaffected by the pH of the electrolyte.
