Abstract
1. A method has been developed for obtaining bicrystal specimens for stress-rupture testing. 2. It has been found that zinc and manganese segregate at the grain boundaries of solid solution of aluminum -copper-zinc and aluminum-copper-manganese. 3. It has been found that zinc lowers the high temperature strength of the grain boundaries in aluminum-copper alloys, while manganese increases it.
