Abstract

The aim of the researcher is to evaluate the effect of abdominal massage on uterine involution among postnatal mother. During the 9 month of pregnancy the whole body of mother undergo several changes specially uterus and which become normal after delivery but in some cases, it does not happen so lead to life threatening condition like post-partum haemorrhage. Abdominal massage is a method used to decrease bleeding and cramping of uterus after delivery. As a normal physiology the uterus returns to its nonpregnant state after delivery, its muscles start to contract strongly which cause pain. Routine use of abdominal massage can prevent postpartum haemorrhage; subinvolution and can also reduce the level of pain. The abdominal massage method is also used to treat the uterine atony, a condition where the uterus loss muscle tonicity and it became soft instead of firm in touch. So, abdominal massage method can be advised to the post-natal mother to enhance the uterus involution process, to prevent post-partum haemorrhage, to improve uterine tonicity and to reduce cramps after delivery. It is simple method and it is simply performed by mother at home without any guidance and paying cost.
