Abstract

SUMMARYA seed coating containing calcium peroxide improved germination and emergence of perennial ryegrass in wet conditions. This was attributed to the oxygen supplying capability of the coating. In dry soil, coated seeds performed less well than uncoated seeds, possibly because the coating selectively absorbed water and prevented its passage to the caryopsis.
