Abstract

ABSTRACT
The postpartum period is a life cycle that every woman will experience. During this period there are various physical changes. Any of these changes, if not managed properly, will cause discomfort or even complications. Bleeding is the main cause of maternal death during the puerperium, which mostly occurs due to failure of the myometrium to contract completely. One of the care to maximize uterine contractions is to do postpartum exercises. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of postpartum exercise on uterine involution.
This research was conducted in June 2021 using the case study method to Mrs. A for 8 days with a duration of 15-30 minutes per day. There are 3 main steps in doing gymnastics, namely initial, core, and final relaxation steps. While each step consists of several gymnastic movements. Gymnastics is carried out every day from the first to the seventh postpartum day. After eight days of postpartum gymnastics care, it was found that postpartum exercise was effective in increasing the mother's involution process. On the ninth day of TFU the mother was not palpable.
Postpartum gymnastics proved to be effective in the process of involution of postpartum mothers. It is hoped that with this research, the application of postpartum gymnastics can be introduced to postpartum women so that the involution process runs effectively while preventing complications.
Key words: postpartum gymnastics, uterine involution
