Abstract

Since the first cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) appeared in indonesia in 1968, DHF has been spreading throughout provinces in Indonesia. Y ogyakarta is one of the provinces with a high incidence rate which shows an increasing trend each year, particularly in Sub-district Umbulharjo. Many efforts have been done to reduce the incidence of dengue cases, however dengue cases are still high. The purposes of this study were to establish the child jumantik and to determine the density of Aedes aegypti before and after the establisment of child jumantik. Quasi-experimental method was used on this study. The results indicated that there was a difference in Ae. aegypti density before and after the establisment of child jumantik. Child jumantik showed higher accuracy compared to adult jumantik. They can monitor the density of Ae. aegypti while playing and doing it together with their friends. Therefore, it is expected to lower the density of Ae. aegypti and eventually decrease the number of cases of DHF .
