Abstract

Nimba (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) is a plant that is widely used as traditional medicine and contains a class of flavonoid compounds, saponins, tannins and polyphenols. This study aims to determine the differences in the class of antibacterial compounds contained in plants and the activity of 70% ethanol extract of nimba leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) from Seyegan, Sleman, Yogyakarta and Praya, Central Lombok, Lombok against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Extraction of nimba leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) using 70% ethanol as a solvent. The extract was tested on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) was tested using the liquid dilution method, variations in the concentration of sample solution 50% w/v, 25% w/v, 12.5% w/v, 6.25% w/v, 3.125% w/v and 1.56% w/v , the minimum kill concentration (MBC) was determined from the lowest observed concentrations on McConkey's medium for Escherichia coli and Blood Agar for Staphylococcus aureus. Phytochemical screening of the 70% ethanol extract of nimba leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss ) was carried out with a tube to determine the class of active compounds in the 70% ethanol test of neem leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss ) from different growing sites. The results of 70% ethanol extract of nimba leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) could not be determined because the test solution looked cloudy. Meanwhile, the KBM of 70% ethanolic extract of nimba (Azadirachta indica A. Juss ) on Escherichia coli bacteria was 25% w/v of 70% ethanol extract of nimba (Azadirachta indica A. Juss ) leaves from Seyegan, Sleman, Yogyakarta and 70% ethanol extract of nimba leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss ) from Praya, Central Lombok, Lombok is 25%w/v. Minimum kill concentration against Staphylococcus aureus was 6.25% w/v 70% ethanol extract of nimba leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) from Seyegan, Sleman, Yogyakarta and 70% ethanol extract of nimba leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) from Praya, Central Lombok, Lombok is 6.25% b/. The test results of the 70% ethanol extract of nimba leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) from Seyegan, Sleman, Yogyakarta and Praya, Central Lombok, Lombok contained flavonoid compounds, saponins, tannins, and polyphenols. Keyword : Antibacteria, Nimba (Azadirachta indica A.Juss), Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus.
