Abstract

Menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea is still a problem experienced by many female students. Many negative impacts arise due to dysmenorrhea so there needs to be an intervention to overcome this. Murottal Ar-Rahman and Aromatherapy are believed can reduce pain intensity. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of giving Al-Rahman letter murottal therapy accompanied by giving lemon aromatherapy to reduce dysmenorrhoea pain. A pre-experimental study with an one group pre-posttest without control design was conducted in this study. Data analysis used paired t test. The sampling technique used accidental sampling. Namely with a total of 20 respondents, of pain intensity using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) questionnaire. Before giving a pre-test, 3 drops of aromatherapy were applied to the tissue which would later be inhaled accompanied by murottal Ar-Rahman for 15 minutes. After that, a post-test was given. The results of this study indicate that there is a decrease in the pain scale before and after giving murottal surah Ar-Rahman accompanied by giving lemon aromatherapy. The average value of pain before administration of murottal surah Ar-Rahman accompanied by giving lemon aromatherapy is 6.40, after giving murottal surah Ar-Rahman accompanied by giving lemon aromatherapy it decreased to 2.80. Comparative test results using paired t test obtained p value = 0.000 (p value <0.005) with a mean difference of 3.60. The conclusion is that giving murottal surah Ar-Rahman accompanied by lemon aromatherapy is effective in reducing dysmenorrhea pain intensity (p value <0.05).
